The Value of Friendship

A friend of mine from medical school e-mailed me. Apparently, he was looking for me and decided to use google to track me down.

In a few seconds, he found a site that appeared to be mine. He was right!

Well, my friend Mike was a jogging buddy in medical school. He was one of the five Mikes in class (if you happen to call this name, at least three or four people would turn their heads at one time). I don't know why but the name Mike was then a popular name.

To avoid confusion, our classmates would name each of us by qualifying "Mike" based on the person's features. For instance, 'Speedy Mike' or "Slow Mike," etc.

Tonight, we talked on the phone for a while, at least 1 1/2 hours reminiscing about the good old days. Mike and I used to jog, run, study, watch girls (who wouldn't?), and eat together.

Yes, we had fun in medical school. Unfortunately after two years, he had to move to another medical school.

Friendships that we create at any phase of our waking lives are valuable. With our friends, life becomes more alive. Without friends, life is dull.

With friends, life is exciting. Without them, life is boring.

With friends, life is inspiring. Without them, life is uninspiring.

So create as many friends as you can. In the homes, befriend your spouses and your children. Share as many precious moments. Give. Joke around. Love. Let laughter be your family trade mark.

In the communities, befriend your neighbors. Share, enjoy, and be glad!
